Ysolde Shimwe

Ysolde Shimwe, co-founder and creative director at UZURI K&Y, leads the forefront of sustainable fashion in Rwanda. UZURI K&Y, with 85 employees, is a pioneer in footwear manufacturing. Ysolde's commitment to sustainability is reflected in the brand's use of recycled car tires to create eco-friendly shoes. With a background in Creative Design and Environmental Built from the University of Rwanda, she recently graduated from the prestigious Stanford Seed Program. Ysolde's diligence has led to remarkable achievements for her company including winning the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Frontier Challenge and receiving the titles of Made in Rwanda Enterprise of the Year and Best Woman Start-Up.
